Remington Arms To Acquire Marlin Firearms

Wow, this just blew me away when I saw it on Remington's website.

I hope that Remington won't change too many things with the Marlin line. Remington and Marlin are two of my favorite gunmakers and they're both still making them here in the U.S.A. (yeah, I know about the Spartan line of O/U's, rotating block muzzleloaders made in Spain and the Serbian made 798's, but the main line is still made here) I hope they continue to do so.

The press release from Remington stated that the transaction to acquire Marlin should be finalized sometime in late January 2008.

I guess we'll all be watching to see what happens in the future with Marlin. Unfortunately, many times when these type of transactions go down, the company that is acquired get's skeletonized by the acquiring company. (this is a prime example here) That would be a shame if it happens in this case and it would cause me to lose a lot of respect for Remington. Probably to the point that I'd stop buying their products.

We'll just have to wait and see!

Hopefully the transition is a positive one for both sides. I’m a big Remington fan and so hopefully they do good things with the Marlin line.

yah i agree with you Auther,I had a Marlin in a model 336 boy that was the sweetest shooting little rifle I ever had in the bush ,It was so versatile for getting around.I lost it in my house fire and never got around to get another,I have 3 rimingtons,I don’t think remington would take a chance on losing all thier customers by changing things on the marlin line.
