Learn Whitetail Deer Hunting

I guess it's a sign of the times. I first told you about a course in deer hunting at a community college in Tennessee, now there is a company offering to teach you how to deer hunt and then take you hunting so you can use your new found skills.

Most of us probably grew up with a mentor who taught us the basics about deer hunting. Whether that was our Fathers or Average Joe down the street, we at least had someone to show us how to tell the difference between a deer track and a cow track.

With today's culture, I suppose there are many people who'd like to learn how to hunt deer but just don't have the skills or confidence to head off into the woods their self.

This new school, called Fresh Tracts, is located in Ardmore Oklahoma. The school covers four days worth of classes and hunting.  According to their brochure, the only thing a beginning deer hunter needs to bring is a ice chest. Food, lodging and equipment will be provided.

Fresh Tracts was started by to Biologist who also offer deer consulting to land and ranch owners in North Texas and Oklahoma.

Well, that’s an interesting idea, I guess. It just seems sort of sad that people have to pay to take a class to learn to hunt. Though I suppose it isn’t much different than paying to participate in a Becoming an Outdoors Woman weekend.

I’d imagine it’s purely a time thing. IF you get 2 weeks vacation a year, you don’t want to “waist” your vacation learning to hunt. You want to actually be hunting. Having grown up with a father who taught me to hunt, I’m finally getting back into hunting this year (I finally have time and a place to go), and I’m really trying to brush up on my skills before I hit the woods.

Old post, but I found it interesting.
