California To Ban Lead Bullets?
I came across this story on the news wire today. I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't a joke. It wasn't. California wants to ban lead bullets to save the Condor. Do Condors fly around and look for bullets to eat?
I mean, c'mon, I can see a duck diving to the bottom and sifting through the muck for food and coming up with some lead pellets, but has there ever been a case of a Condor coming down with lead poisoning because it ate a bullet? The Tree huggers say there is an increase in the Condors eating a bullet, or bullet fragment, from dead animals. Yeah...right...
Just when it seems California can't get any nuttier, here comes another nutty story. And people wonder why Lindsey Lohan is so screwed up!
I apologize to my California readers, I know there are a few of you left who are good, but I'm not quite sure why your staying in the nut house! 
Granted, this is only in the areas that the Condor's frequent, but that's a big area. You all know how these "areas" get expanded. If a Condor even thinks about flying to Northern California, well, we'll ban lead bullets there too because he might fly down and eat something with a bullet in it.
But hey, according to the story, the Dept. of Wildlife in California will provide non lead ammo for no or reduced cost, as long as their funding last. Can you imagine shooting some ammo a State Employee gives you on the morning of the hunt?
