I know a lot of people lease ground and it is becoming one of the only ways to hunt anymore but i do not like the idea of leasing because most deer hunters have no respect for other types of hunting all they care about is there big buck. People there are other types of hunting such as squirre and rabit hunting, along with traping. And a lot of farmers like to see large numbers of deer killed so along with these bucks killed there need to me more does killed. When more Hunters are more under standing of other hunters i will feel more sorry for thoes losing there leases.

Great post. We have hunted on private land a lot, and so try to have good relationships with the land owners. It has allowed us to continue hunting on properties where other people are no longer allowed to hunt. We try to help with some work around farms, and share part of the venison with them if we are successful. It is so important to have a good relationship with landowners, and maintain it with good will. Too many hunters look at their relationship with landowners as one sided--they provide the land, and hunters do nothing in return.

It is sad to see, but unfortunately people losing leases is definitely a fact of life these days. I agree with you and your post that the one way to help combat that is to be friends with your landowners and go out of your way to help them and respect their land. It not only helps your cause but also is the right thing to do.

Your number one reason is something I'm sure happens often. We see it on my Dad's property quite a bit. People leave trash and don't clean up after themselves. It certainly is irritating, and I'm sure leads to many people's hunting access being revoked.
