The Claw Review and How To Skin A Deer
This post will be a review of "The Claw Skinning Tool" from Cabela's and a YouTube Video of the way I prefer to skin deer.
For some reason, my buddy bought The Claw from Cabela's this year. My opinion is that he saw it in the catalog, ordered it and hated to admit he had been drinking when he'd bought it.
Butt Out – Review
Whenever I find something really cool, I like to share it with my readers.
I'll be the first to admit this, but I didn't purchase the Butt Out tool. My friend did. When he told me about this tool, I thought, "Another sucker is born." He purchased it at the local Wal-Mart store and showed it too me. I still wasn't impressed. It looked like a gimmick.
4 Minnesota Deer Hunters Shot Opening Weekend
Four Minnesota Deer Hunters were shot on the opening Weekend of Minnesota's Deer Season. One was killed.
Here's a run down of the shootings from Channel 9 in the Twin Cities.
Survival Tips For Deer Hunters
Recently I was planning a Deer hunt for a section of National Forest and throwing together a little survival kit for day hunts. When I called my buddy and asked him if he had his survival kit together he asked "What for?"
It then struck me that many Deer hunters do not give a Survival kit serious thought.
Idaho Game and Fish Asking For Help On Poaching Incidents
There has been a rash of poaching incidents in Southeastern Idaho recently and the Idaho Game & Fish is asking help from residents to solve the cases.
These cases aren't cases where someone shoots an animal illegally and puts it in their freezer. These animals were poached and left to go to waste. Poaching really gets my Goat, but shooting animals and leaving them lay to waste really gets me hot under the collar. These a$$holes need caught and sent to prison where they belong.
Illinois Bowhunter Bags 11 point “Super Buck”
Illinois bowhunter Joel Eggers has bagged a super buck. This huge 11 point buck field dressed 251 pounds and gross scored 211 inches...yeah that's no typo...211 inches of horn and 251 lbs hogdressed. "Super Buck" for sure! (I would have added a picture from the newspaper website but I don't have permission)
The Super Buck was trailing several does as they came past Joel's treestand.
Baiting Deer – Good, Bad or Ugly?
I was reading a post by Arthur over at SimplyOutdoors.Net the other night. He had an excellent post on baiting deer. After reading his post, I found that we have some of the same opinions about baiting Deer.
One Bad Case of Buck Fever
I found this funny Deer Hunting video on YouTube. If you watch where the bullets are impacting you can tell that they shooter is looking at the Bucks antlers, not concentrating on where his crosshairs are.
Either that, or he didn't sight in his Deer rifle. Could be a case of a Magnum owner having someone else sight in his rifle because he's afraid of the recoil. Regardless, this funny video demonstrates the need for practice with your Deer rifle!
Oklahoma 2007 Blackpowder Season Review
Well, another Oklahoma Primitive Firearms season has come and gone. Ironic that Oklahoma calls it's blackpowder season "Primitive Firearms" with most everyone using modern inline muzzleloaders!
Going into this Season, many of my friends thought it would be a tough hunt. The Full Moon was on Oct. 26th. As if that wasn't bad enough, there was an historic bumper crop of Red Oak acorns due to a wet Summer. I've never seen so many acorns in our hunting area!
MDM ‘Buckwacka’ Muzzleloading Rifle Review
I bought my Mellennium Designed Muzzleloader "Buckwacka" .45 caliber black powder rifle about 3 years ago. I had previously owned and shot a few inline muzzleloaders since "coming over" from the traditional black powder rifle. Yet, when I shot those rifles and carried them afield, I never felt like I was shooting a 'real' rifle plus most of them left something to be desired in the way they shot and operated.
