Michigan Deer Hunting Rule Changes Plus Antlerless Permits

Hey Michigan deer hunters, it's time to apply for your antlerless permits. Very few, if any, antlerless permits are expected to be available over the counter this year, so you'd better make sure you get yourself and your party in the drawings.

The deadline to have your application is in August 15. You'll be able to see the drawing results starting on September 10 at 10 a.m. by going to the Michigan DNR website. There is a $4 application fee.

New ’07 Regulations For Kentucky Deer Hunters

If you're going to be hunting deer in Kentucky during the fall '07 deer season, there's some new regulations that you'll need to know about.

I don't know if the citizens of Kentucky have had a problem with this, but the new regulations stipulate that if you own a Concealed Carry permit, it's still illegal to carry a modern firearm into the woods during Archery, Crossbow and Muzzleloading season.

California To Ban Lead Bullets?

I came across this story on the news wire today. I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't a joke. It wasn't. California wants to ban lead bullets to save the Condor. Do Condors fly around and look for bullets to eat?

How To Bag The Biggest Buck Of Your Life – Book Review

larry benoit bookI've been a fan of the Benoits ever since I was a small child. My Dad use to get all the major Hunting & Fishing Magazines and I can still remember that 1972 issue of Sports Afield with Larry Benoit on the front cover looking through his peep site at me. The caption of the front cover was "Is This America's Best Deer Hunter?" So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out they were going to reprint his popular book titled: "How To Bag The Biggest Buck Of Your Life"

Deer hunting in Georgia has long been a tradition for many Peach State residents and non-residents alike. That's no earth shattering news to many of you, many states harbor a long tradition of deer hunting, Georgia being only one. However, Georgia is a state that seems to be a "sleeper" for many non-residents. For most deer hunters, when they think of deer hunting in the South, Alabama and Mississippi come to mind, not Georgia.

Wisconsin deer hunters still must worry about chronic wasting disease (CWD) this year when they get out to go deer hunting.

Judging by the numbers that the Wisconsin DNR is putting up on their website, the number of deer sample who had CWD has stayed about the same as last year. In 2006 about 30,000 deer were sampled and of those, 205 were positive.  As of July 20th, 2007, 856 deer sample were tested positive, however this sampling was around 130 thousand.
